The Most Underrated Form of Intimacy is Telling the Truth
It is in our truth that we acquire everything we are seeking...

Need to catch up?
I recently came across this quote, “the most underrated form of intimacy is telling the truth (André WYZE),” and I couldn’t help but turn it into a full week’s letter.
Why?
Because if you stop to think about why good things happen, you might see one pattern that consistently produces favorable outcomes… the pattern of telling the truth.
Now, I’m not one to get biblical, but in short… the truth shall set you free!
See, whether it be our personal lives or our professional ones, some of the greatest outcomes were sparked by moments of simply being… honest.
In partnership, it creates closeness, connection, trust, love and peace. Does it not do this in a professional setting as well?
In business, when we are direct, honest and helpful, does it not spark our clients and customers the same closeness, connection and trust?
Honesty is simply saying…
I respect you, I respect myself, I respect our time in this moment, I respect the world in which I’m creating, I respect the outcomes I’m actively choosing to participate in and I respect all the thoughts, feelings and experiences that someone else is bringing to this interaction whether we are aligned or not.
Telling the truth, regardless of you worrying how you will be perceived shows your authenticity.
Honesty is our core… it is our authenticity, our reputation and what others can expect from us on a continual basis when we are dedicated to it.
As a side note, honesty without empathy, love, compassion and humility, is simply a direct way to be an asshole.
We should not let the excuse of saying how things are be a badge of honor when it doesn’t include integrity and a high level of emotional intelligence.
In our truth, we want to honor all whether we continue the relationship beyond that interaction or not.
Our truth brings intimacy to one of two places… where it already exists and where it’s needed most. Honor both.

SIMPLIFY…
We capture more favorable outcomes through our simple acts of truth because we make the space in between connected…
Translation:
You worry less when you tell the truth more. What you’re seeking finds you faster, what isn’t for you leaves you quicker.
MULTIPLY…
Investment is the discipline of relative selection.
I had a business meeting this past week and I said, “honesty is highly profitable.”
Why?
What, where and whom we invest our time, energy and money into is what we can be sure of in our “returns.”
Honesty in business is the act of taking all of the complexities brought on by individuals and their personal / emotional experiences and distilling down into a singular purpose…
…serving the intended client or customer efficiently as possible while seamlessly adding value to their lives.
That’s it!
What is the result we want? What are the activities associated with getting that result? What can we spend on those activities to get that result? How can we do better each time iteratively?
As for our personal investments, financially or in individuals, having the discipline to be relatively selective is in itself, a practice of intentionality, which can only be sparked by a high level of honesty…
In other words, one is selective when they are honest about what best serves their time, their purpose and their vision.
DIVERSIFY…
The universal laws apply to everything. When we are honest in our dealings… life, partnership, business, marketing, health, finances… we see a direct correlation to our outcomes. Law of attraction starts from our behavior, not a wish.
How do you know if the business opportunity is a good one? Be honest with yourself and the potential business partners.
How do you know if the person is your life partner? Be honest with yourself and the potential life partner.
How do you know if your marketing is being effective? Be honest with yourself and your intended customers.
How do you know if your health is heading in the right direction? Be honest with yourself and get to know what your body needs.
How do you know if your finances are in order? Be honest with yourself and figure out what you need to change, save, invest, pivot or pay off.
Do you see the correlation between leaning in to your life with an honest lens and the swiftness in which you’ll receive answers and a clear direction?
Of course, I understand that for most people, receiving an answer other than their “expectation” is often why people delay honesty. They don’t want to “lose” nor do they want to hear something other than what their ego has intended.
However, an alternative perspective might be that leaning in with honesty may not get you the answer you’re rooting for today, but it’s definitely getting you closer to one that’s far beyond your ego’s imagination tomorrow… and that’s worth fighting for.
When we apply honesty across all areas of our dealings, we tend to have a clearer vision of our outcomes, and can even begin to expect them simply because clarity and direction are more important than speed.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
I really love this weeks letter! Back the basics really, us humans love to complicate things. Yet, you’re totally right. Be honest with yourself first then others, take aligned action and watch the radical change unfold.
“Honesty without empathy, love, compassion and humility, is simply a direct way to be an asshole.” I really feel this statement. When I was much younger I was a direct asshole. I would be harshly honest. I was inflicting how I felt internally.
I have evolved into the space of being KINDLY honest. Always.
“having the discipline to be relatively selective is in itself, a practice of intentionality, which can only be sparked by a high level of honesty…” This really speaks to me as well. I have very firm boundaries as to who has access to my energy & it all started with having an honest conversation with myself about some relationships that were no longer serving. That I was no longer intentionally choosing but rather felt like something fixed. Which is not true.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. 💚
Honesty is one of my favorite things. It's not always the easiest route, but when it's a core value you make sure that it's never pushed to the side.
So glad you're back, Matt!
Oh, and I loved the side note you wrote about. and agree that honesty should always be practiced with emphathy, love, compassion and humilty. So glad you pointed that out!
