"The question isn't whether you can reach people — it's whether what you offer is worth reaching for" is such a good thought. I really appreciate these thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
This is the sentiment I am building my Substack on. A writing / publishing cadence that works for me, not the algorithm. Sharing what’s on my mind or resonating with me, not hopping on every trend just to say I did. Thank you for articulating what so many of us are feeling!
This kind of writing is exactly what made me create my Substack account. I no longer feel like platforms like Instagram and Facebook are media to connect socially with someone out of physical reach. Nor are they platforms where I can truly enjoy the craft while still feeling the human behind it. Instead, they are flooded with generic, crowded, and overwhelming content. Thanks for writing this.
I'd be curious what your thoughts would be - is taste something that is innate, or is it always something that can be trained? Can someone be born with "good taste"?
I feel like it's curated over time... yes, some have it early on, but I think many cultivate it through experience, life, experimentation, trial and error, curation, consistency, mastery and more
I agree, I also think it is a combination of "nature & nurture"... but why some people can have very similar experiences but have completely different tastes makes me wonder how much of it starts from an unknown baseline...
I really enjoyed reading this post, thanks for sharing!
