It's Never Perfect... Publish It.
Would you rather be perfect and unseen or imperfect and helpful?

Need to catch up?
It’s not ready.
It’s never ready.
Countless times I hear from entrepreneurs, creators, writers / authors, artists and more and one of the top comments they say to me is…
What if my work isn’t ready to go out?
To which I ask, what’s wrong with it and they nearly almost say any of the following:
It doesn’t feel complete.
I’m not sure if it’s the right time of the day to post my work.
What if no one comments or likes it.
I don’t think it looks as good as it could.
I’m scared to put myself out there.
First, let me start by saying, this is normal.
Second, let me end by saying, you’re going to have to get over it.
Our work is never complete because it’s always evolving; we’re always evolving.
Any time of the day is the right time to post when frequency becomes your friend instead of planning for the perfect time.
Like and comment yourself and you’ll at least have one… PS - frequency will ensure they will.
It may never look good enough, but it’s not about you but the people you serve, right?
The fastest way to get over the fear of putting yourself out there is by putting yourself and your work out there. Do it once and it may feel scary as hell. Do it once everyday and you’ll be cruising within a week.
With your work, I want you to consider the following:
You don’t need perfect… you need frequency and consistency of publishing.
Publishing your work is like building muscles… repetition trims the “fat” (non-essential work), builds the “core” (the foundational work) and defines the “body/muscle” (the results).
The Internet is “permissionless” and the returns are an engaged audience that you can build your work and income from.
Let’s dive deeper into each of these. 👇🏼
You Don’t Need Perfect… You Need Frequency and Consistency
The myth of “perfect” is crushing your work.
When we focus on perfect, we slow the process of our work’s evolution. Sounds ironic but hear me out.
Perfectionism stalls growth while publishing gives us an energy exchange, or feedback from the public… not to mention it allows the evolution of one thing to grow into a bigger thing and into our vision.
So, what’s the solution to combatting perfectionism?
Consistency, repetition and frequency.
All three…
build your craft and brand awareness
make your work better, more refined and expansive
develop an audience that supports you
help you serve value at scale.
PRO TIP 🔥: Here’s how I get more content out in less time:
My main hub of content is my newsletter and/or my podcast.
I use Hypeshare to deploy my entire week’s content to Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram in a fraction of time… saving me up to 5 hours of work and providing me 120-150 pieces of content.
I have frequency online which allows me to stay in front of my audience with my work, and in turn has yielded me a 300X return on audience on Instagram, 50% on Twitter and 35% on LinkedIn.
Don’t be afraid to put your work out there… your audience isn’t looking for “perfect,” they’re looking for more.👇🏼
Publishing Your Work is Like Building Muscles…
As I mentioned above, repetition trims the “fat” (non-essential work), builds the “core” (the foundational work) and defines the “body/muscle” (the results).
When we repeatedly publish our work, we no longer wonder “what would have been,” but “what can I do better.”
I call this “trimming the fat” or eliminating the non-essentials. Simply put, the “doing” allows us to figure out what’s working and what’s not so we can reduce waste (future time, energy and money) and maximize potential (output, audience and income).
Additionally, I love to explore a lot of topics with my writing and I believe my audience appreciates it. However, I’ve learned a lot about how they consume my work and what other value I can provide.
This is how we continuously improve our “core” (foundation) and of course, build, sustain and grow our entire body of work, which will inevitably evolve as I do… hence, keep publishing.👇🏼
The Internet is Permissionless & the Returns are an Engaged Audience
The barriers for entry are zero in the Internet Age… or what I like to call “Permissionless.”
Decades ago, if you wanted to be a musician, writer, journalist, dancer, photographer, painter, artist, educator, mentor and countless other professions, you had to subscribe to industry “gatekeepers” and beg to be given a chance.
The Internet took that away, and in fact, you should be grateful because owning your content and the audience is how you own your life, business and income.
You don’t need permission to launch a brand, a business or to promote your work. You simply need to publish yourself… and the returns are massive if you can execute the work and frequently connect online.
TL;DR
Your work is never perfect, just publish it.
Imperfect and impactful is better than perfect and unseen.
You don’t need perfect… you need frequency and consistency of publishing.
The solution to combatting perfectionism… consistency, repetition and frequency.
Repetition trims the “fat” (non-essential work), builds the “core” (the foundational work) and defines the “body/muscle” (the results).
You don’t need permission to launch a brand, a business or to promote your work. You simply need to publish yourself permissionlessly.
Simplify, Multiply, Diversify below…👇🏼
SIMPLIFY…
The faster you publish, the quicker you reduce the excess.
Translation:
The goal is less but better. To get to “less” we need to publish more.
Frequency of our work or art allows for two simultaneous events to happen… we grow our audience and we decide what evolves and what no longer serves.
MULTIPLY…
There’s never a right time of day to launch your work online… unless you count immediately.
Frequency, frequency, frequency.
Not at the speed of burnout, but at the leverage of batching and automation.
DIVERSIFY…
Publish everything that excites you. The output will allow you to thrive in multiple areas and not just one.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
“This is normal. AND you’re going to have to get over it.” BOOM, it is that simple.
This statement it so freaking profound Matt! Throughout my personal healing journey & certainly throughout my entrepreneurial journey I have felt all of the above resistances & fears but they never stopped me. I brought them along & alleviated my own fears by taking aligned action. By just doing it.
And I am constantly saying… “my work is never about me.” So that was really resonate as well!!
“You don’t need permission, but you do need to do the work.” This is everything!!
I put in years of “the work” (and continue to do so!) and as I have evolved INTERNALLY everything externally is following suit with ease.
Thank you. Thank you Matthew!! 💚💚🙏🏼🙏🏼
