Repetition Isn't Boring... It's Your Answer
Creating predictable outcomes creates a limitless life.

Need to catch up?
Good morning fam!
This week I want to talk about repetition… why you don’t do it, why it solves everything you’re looking for and how truly sexy the unsexy concept of repetition really is.
The fact is, when we hear the idea of doing something over and over and over again, our minds and our bodies grow increasingly resistant to repetition creating a narrative of extreme boredom.
“I don’t want to be a robot.”
“I’m too creative to box myself into doing the same thing over and over again.”
“I like to go with the flow.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I need more flexibility.”
… and a million other excuses you’ll come up with.
But…
what if I told you that repetition is actually the answer you’ve been looking for… that it expands your creativity, flow, output, time, flexibility and life?
You need it for your business and life.
In business, repetition beats customization.
In life, repetition creates customization.
The former scales time and predictable outcomes.
The latter scales design and flexibility
Now let’s look at repetition as the answer to your problems instead of the boring box you think it’s going to put you in.👇🏼
In Business, Repetition Beats Customization
The purpose of a business is to serve an intended audience (or set of audiences), with simplicity and results at scale, while reducing inefficiencies for you and the customer and maximizing the return for both parties.
The only way to achieve that is through repetition, period.
How do you consistently drive value to your customers? By consistently driving repeated results.
How do you drive repeated results? By systemizing every part of the process that got you the results in the first place.
That’s it.
What happens in a lot of businesses, and I’ve been notoriously guilty of this as well, is when we go outside of our designated lanes to do and be ALL the things.
Now, I’m not saying you can’t diversify your offerings. I think diversification is preferred when it’s been created from systems and processes that can repeat previous outcomes you’ve experienced in other areas of your business.
What I am saying, is that the sheer act of customizing the order and your delivery for each and every client slows down progress, eats into cash flow and increases inefficiencies.
In short, when you spread yourself too thin, you’re likely to become stressed out, overworked, undervalued and out of time.
The answer… repetition.
Figure out what you do really really well, that gets a customer consistent results over and over again, and then map out the entire process it takes to do it on repeat.
This creates two inevitable outcomes.
New customers / clients know what to expect as a result of working with you.
You know how to create more predictable revenue.
Repetition takes results and optimizes them.
Each new customer gets the benefits from increasingly great results.
Your business gets the benefits from scaling great results.
Without creating repetition in your business, you’re losing time, energy and money from customization.
Again, I’m not saying to treat everyone exactly the same and without personal client care. What I am saying is that you want to repeat results for more than one person at a time for their intended need to be fulfilled.
As an example, being an agency owner and taking custom jobs for my team has significantly slowed us down. While many of our processes are streamlined and repetitive, each “job” was different based on the client’s needs.
This created project turnaround time to be significantly longer (hours wise), thereby reducing the actual return and hourly rate. This is not scalable and repeatable unless you count a downward trend.
But, since I actually knew that was going to happen from the start, I had already built in a pivot strategy once I knew the time and opportunity would present itself.
I gathered enough data on what people truly needed most, how they needed it delivered, how they could more easily manage it and how I could help thousands (or tens of thousands) at a time instead of 1:1.
Sometimes we use customization for a period of time, simply to figure out where we can narrow and deliver the most value, in fractions of time, on repeat.
The answer… productization, but I’ll save that for another letter.
However, as a📍 to this conversation, productization is the act of packaging your knowledge and services a way in which customers can purchase said knowledge and services, implement them and gain the results they’re looking for… whether you are there or not.

Now let’s talk about repetition “creating” more customization in your life… the complete opposite of business👇🏼
In Life, Repetition Creates Customization
In life, if we want to see all of our dreams come true, we have to show up repeatedly everyday for them.
You either subscribe to the “system”… entities, institutions and organizations that give you “their” exact blueprint and hope to fit your life into their design, or you take your own unique path and create it.
To create it, you’re going to have to repeat a few process in various aspects of your life.
Better health, more wealth, more passion, more purpose, more experiences and more life… all of these are achieved when you take repeatable steps to design your life.
As an entrepreneur, it wasn’t until I started taking a lot more accountability for my daily routines, my body/health, my finances and above all, my time and energy, that suddenly I was forced to think about the following:
What do I really want?
How do I want to live my life?
Where do I want to live?
With whom do I want to do life with?
What experiences do I want?
What would make me happy?
and…
What would I be willing to do for all of this?
Enters… repetition.
Once I knew the answers to the above, I created a lifestyle around repeatable daily habits to get “there.”
The results?
Well, I’m still very much in it, but I’ve never had more time or energy, my body has never been healthier, my business has never been more directional, my finances have never been more managed and I produce more output of my work in 6 hour days than most produce in 60 days.
Repetition doesn’t create a boring life… it created endless possibilities for me.
Discipline and repetition are “unsexy” until you realize they bring everything that is.👇🏼
The Unsexy is Quite Sexy.
We’ve been programmed. I’m sorry but that’s the truth.
We live in “convenience culture,” which has stripped a lot of people from doing the things that would not only be inherently good for themselves, but give them the exact life they want.
Convenience has been marketed as sexy and discipline as boring.
When you begin to understand that convenience robs you of sovereignty and independence, and discipline creates the ultimate freedom, you’ll begin to redefine sexy.
Discipline is only “hard” in the beginning because “easy” has been marketed so well.
“Easy” only works for so long before it becomes the hardest life you’ll ever face… bad health, bad relationships, hard financial situations… you name it.
Redefine repetition as a means to doing hard things well long enough to see how sexy the results of your individual path can be.
TL;DR
In business, repetition beats customization; in life, repetition creates customization.
Repetition creates consistent results; consistent results give us predictable outcomes.
Customization slows speed of delivery for most things. You can still “customize” to personalize the experience, but find ways to operationalize the process.
Productization is scaling knowledge and results at 100x or 1000x. Build skill to the point of productizing.
Life will plug you into a “system” if you don’t use repeatable, daily habits to build the life you want.
Convenience has been marketed as sexy and discipline as boring. Discipline is only “hard” in the beginning because “easy” has been marketed so well.
Read this week’s Simplify, Multiply, Diversify below…👇🏼
SIMPLIFY…
If it’s been marketed as “easy,” chances are it’ll be harder later.
Translation:
Don’t skip out on the work now or you’ll work twice as hard later.
MULTIPLY…
Repetition doesn’t narrow your results, it expands them. It only narrows your focus.
DIVERSIFY…
If we want a business that scales we repeat the activities at scale. If we want a life by design we repeat the activities by design.
Work hard, then smart so smart works hard.
Design a life, then create repeatable steps to meet it so a life becomes what you have not what you desire.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
Matt, you are an absolute genius. This letter is speaking my hearts language!! Firstly repetition is my jam. Once I commit to something I am wholeheartedly in for as long as it is in alignment with my soul. For instance, my sound healing events! In June of 2020 I committed to hosting monthly events and that is exactly what I have done, without fail. And in turn I am creating a community, I’m creating a space where people KNOW they can show up authentically and leave feeling connected & peaceful. I’m repeating & repeating and somehow it’s still a different experience each time. My work is so beautiful in that way.
It has been such a learning & growth process of figuring it out as I go! From going to my clients homes & renting spaces out to now having my own studio space has been such a beautiful evolution.
This letter has inspired me to ask myself….how can I serve on an even bigger scale? 🤔 I know it’s something I can do, not going to lie I am intimidated as fuck by anything digital!! 👵🏼👵🏼👵🏼 Which is why I signed up for your next workshop. 💚🙏🏼 😆
Thank you for sharing your wisdom Matt!!
